Dear Friends and Colleagues,
We are focusing this month’s newsletter on an imagery calibration project which we recently completed. This exciting project has enabled us to provide our clients with controlled imagery samples ranging in elevation, resolution and scale. We look forward to leveraging this imagery to better serve our valued customers.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support and interest in the Cooper Newsletter.
Regards,
Jeff Cooper

Cooper Completes Imagery Calibration Project and Launches Interactive Web Service
We are very excited to announce that we recently captured the Pima Air and Space Museum as well as the surrounding area. This project was devised to provide a series of imagery samples, ranging in elevation, resolution and scale, in order to help clients make an informed decision about project parameters when ordering mapping and imaging services.
We completed multiple image acquisitions from a number of altitudes, starting at 1,000 feet and ending at 14,000 feet. All elevations were flown under average flight conditions, in order to remain consistent and provide a series of imagery that can be accurately compared.
We chose the Pima Air and Space Museum as our site for a number of reasons. Not only is the area interesting, it contains a variety of features which are often areas of focus in our mapping projects. This particular site contains everything from natural and unobstructed ground, to altering terrains and housing. In addition, we wanted to find an area with little color variance in the terrain. While it is more difficult for us to map a "washed out" area, it is often an issue; we therefore felt it was crucial to choose an area that met this criteria.
Historically, we have been able to provide sample imagery from varying altitudes, scales and resolutions but not of the same location. This is in essence our first "Petri Dish" flight in which we were able to choose a controlled environment for a series of flights.
Among other things on the premises at the Air and Space Museum is an Air Force One plane. While on site Dave Major and his children enjoyed a tour of the presidential plane.
Additionally, this project can be translated for use in our GeoScans Division. Customers interested in project scans can explore resolution and flight altitude options before placing their orders.
The images have been placed on the Cooper Aerial website in order to make them accessible to our clients around the globe. We are now able to direct our clients to the site in order to help them better understand what they can expect based upon the parameters of their project. The images can even be downloaded for further comparison. This takes the guess work out for our clients and helps us to better meet their needs.
We thoroughly enjoyed working with the Pima Air and Space Museum; everyone was extremely cordial and very professional. We would like to thank everyone at the Museum for their help and support.
